Trapped Near ISBT Anand Vihar: How the Suspects Were Intercepted

Following a rise in snatching and robbery incidents across East Delhi, the Patparganj Industrial Area Police had intensified patrolling and alerted their local intelligence network. A specialized police team was constituted under the guidance of ACP Madhu Vihar and the supervision of the SHO of Patparganj Industrial Area. On July 28, officers received specific secret information indicating that two suspicious individuals were roaming the area on a motorcycle with the intent to commit a crime. Acting swiftly, the police team laid a trap near the U-turn flyover by ISBT Anand Vihar. At approximately 6:10 PM, as the suspects approached on the motorcycle, the team tactfully surrounded and apprehended both men.

Interrogation Uncovers Hidden Stash: 4 More Phones Recovered from Sahibabad

During the initial search at the spot, officers recovered one button-actuated knife from Dilshad, along with three stolen mobile phones and the motorcycle. A verification of the motorcycle revealed that it had been reported stolen from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. Upon sustained interrogation, Dilshad disclosed that four additional stolen mobile phones were hidden at his residence in Shalimar Garden, Sahibabad. The police team acted immediately on his disclosure, raiding the location and recovering all four hidden devices.

Driven by Addiction: Habitual Offenders with Extensive Criminal History

Investigation revealed that both accused reside in the same locality—Janakpuri, Sahibabad—and have known each other for several years. Both individuals are illiterate and heavily addicted to liquor and narcotic substances. To sustain their daily expenses and substance dependencies, they turned to street crime, targeting passersby for robbery, theft, and snatching. Official police records indicate that both are habitual offenders with a combined history of 17 previous criminal cases involving charges of attempt to murder, robbery, snatching, theft, and Arms Act violations. Dilshad alone is named in 12 previous cases, while Karan Yadav is involved in 5 prior criminal cases.

Major Blow to Street Crime: Further Investigation Underway

Senior police officials stated that the arrest of these two active criminals will significantly curtail street crime in the region. The operations solved nine active cases registered across multiple police stations, including Patparganj Industrial Area, Madhu Vihar, Seemapuri, and Kashmere Gate in Delhi, as well as Sahibabad and Sihani Gate in Ghaziabad. Authorities are currently investigating the receivers who purchased the stolen mobile phones and working to identify any other associates involved in their syndicate. Police anticipate further arrests and recoveries as the investigation progresses.
